In November, the month when the Mekong River starts to sink back to its normal level at the end of the rainy season, there is a big traditional festival in Cambodia. It is called Water Festival (Bonn Om Teuk), rowing boat racing. It is the biggest holiday for Cambodian. The festival lasts three days so that boats from near and far provinces can join the contest. During the festival, Cambodian across the country gathers in Phnom Penh, capital of Cambodia, to attend and celebrate this festival. Every year, during this event, around 10% of Cambodia’s population (base on the Cambodia Inter Census in 2003, Cambodia’s population is approximately 13 millions) moves in Phnom Penh to catch this event.
The Water Festival has a tremendously sole history. Historically, during the Angkor era in the 12th century, under rule of King Preah Bat Jayvarman VII, Khmer Empire had occupied most part of Indochinese Peninsula. The King had battled with enemies to defend the empire as well as to expand the territory. With a very powerful naval force, the King had defeated his enemies all the time. As a result, the King had decided to organize every year the Water Festival in Bayon Temple and Batteay Chhmar. The purpose is to select a champion of sailing battle. In addition, the ceremony is also to train his army to prepare for battle. People can see lots of statues about sailing battles under the leadership of King Jayvarman VII have been carved on the wall of Angkor Thom temple. Because of this, from then up to now, the custom of this has become a very import traditional festival in Cambodia. Moreover, this event is to admire the military exercise of our navy force in the course of national defense and to express thanks to the 3 Buddhist symbols, Gods and all holy things which help us, especially with agriculture (rice fields) and serves as an opportunity to pray to our lord for the happiness and sufficient rain for rice cultivation. Additionally, there are others three ceremonies, namely (1) illuminate float (Loy Pratip) , (2) Moon salutation (Sampeas Preah Khe) and (3) the eating of pestle new special rice with banana or coconut juice (Ork Ambok), is included during the festival as well.
A lot of Cambodian PC users, especially Cambodian IT enthusiasts, have gradually been impressed by the Khmer Unicode and have now installed it into their PC recently, because they they can type Khmer Unicode fonts instead of Limon fonts, a most popular Khmer font over a last decade. In addition, they can to operate a various Khmer based application such as Office Packages, Web Browser, and Mail Client. Beside, they hopefully expect to operate Khmer OS in a forthcoming future.
With a very fascilating spirit on it, sometimes it may make some Cambodian PC user feel disappiontment as they have encountered a small problem, which can discourage people not to use Khmer Unicode, as described below.
While typing document with Khmer Unicode in Office 2003, it always crash in a few minutes with a message box appeared " Microsoft Word has countered a problem and need to be closed …. the file will be recovered…."). However, this problem can be solved as the IT specialists have found that this problem is caused from a file name " usp10.dll ". If it is not the correct version, it is a root cause of this problem. Hence, to solve this problem, the IT specialists have advised to replace it with the right version (usp10.dll v1.465.4001.0 and usp10.dll v1.613.5291.0). The file usp10.dll located in two differents folder. Below is the paths to replace it.
1. Copy file usp10.dll, file version 1.613.5291.0, into C:Program FilesCommon FilesMicrosoft SharedOFFICE11
2. Copy (you must log on your PC in Safe Mode to do so) file usp10.dll, file version 1.465.4001.0, into C:WINDOWSsystem32
Hope this advise from the IT specialists may work for everybody as it has been working very well with my PC.

Presentation is unavoidable activity in our daily life either in study or work. For instance, while you are taking a course of Macro, the lecturer may give you an oral presentation assignment on Cambodia GDP growth to the class. Other, if you are a marketing manager of a
company, you may request to conduct an oral presentation on Current Customer Satisfaction on Your Company Product to the executive committee during quarterly meeting. Hence, when making an oral presentation in any places, you must know your subject well and convince your audience that they have something to gain from listening to you.
How to make a good oral presentation that can attract your audience attention? And to have them something from your presentation. The following statement will help you to make an effective oral presentation.
1. Be prepared. Research your subject to ensure that you are knowledgeable. Practice your presentation until you feel comfortable.
Make sure you can present your information within whatever time limits you will have. Anticipate questions you may be asked and
prepare answers to these.
2. Know your audience. Tailor your presentation to your audience’s level of knowledge about the subject of your presentation, what they need to know, and their interests.
3. Be positive. Make it clear that you are knowledgeable and enthusiastic about your subject.
4. Don’t read your presentation. Talk to your audience. Use your notes as prompts as needed.
5. Provide examples. Try to make your presentation as concrete and "down to earth" as possible. Add appropriate anecdotes and humor
to drive home a point.
6. Use visual aids. Supplement what you say with visual aids such as handouts, charts, transparencies, and slides. Make sure that everyone can easily see the visual aids. Don’t use visual aids that are so complex that the audience will spend its time trying to read them instead of listening to you. Visual aids are supplements to what you say, not replacements for what you say.
7. Maintain eye contact. Shift your eye contact around the room so that everyone feels that you are talking to them.
8. Actively involve your audience. People can only listen so long without their attention wandering. Making your presentation interesting will help you to capture and keep your audience’s attention for a while, but you must do more. Build in some simple and quick activities for your audience so that they are actively involved in your presentation. Ask questions that you are confident your audience will be able to answer.
9. Use your voice effectively. Vary the tone of your voice and be careful not to talk too quickly.
10. End on a high note. Leave your audience feeling upbeat about what they have just heard.
Anyway, please bear in mind crucial things in making an oral presentation are clear understanding your subject to be presented and
Your Audience. Be aware of these you will make an effective oral presentation. It is first thing to do.

You may feel unconfortable if someone name appears on your computer as owner. Hence, it is important to have your own information on your computer that will indicate it is your own property. On the other hand, if you accidentially entered the wrong registration information while installing Windows you may want to correct those information.
If above the case, with Microsoft Windows, you can change the registration information as well as others information such as your Product ID and Product Name. To do so, you can follow the below steps:
1. Go to Start—> Run
2. Type the word " regedit "—> Press OK
3. Find the key below as paths below:
Windows 95, 98 and Me:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersion]
Windows NT, 2000 and XP:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersion]
4. Modify the strings values of " RegisteredOwner " and " RegisteredOrganization " as your desired.

Khmer Unicode does not work with Windows 95, 98 or ME!
By default, Windows XP and Windows 2000 cannot handle Khmer Unicode fonts and text, unless you install MS Office 2003, which provides partial support for it, but only on MS Office applications (you still need the fonts and the keyboard).
Being able to widely use Khmer Unicode in you computer requires:
1. To install support for complex text in Windows XP or Indic text in Windows 2000.
2. To have version 1.465 or later of the usp10.dll file installed in the c:windowssystem32 directory.
3. To install a Khmer keyboard.
4. To install some Khmer Unicode fonts.
This might sound complicated, but it is actually quite easy, it you have a Windows CD (XP or 2000, whatever you use) and either MS Office 2003 or the necessary usp10.dll file (see here if you have none of this).
First you must check if the support for complex text is installed in your computer. If your computer has Windows XP installed, go to Start—>Settings—>Control Panel. Open the Regional and Language Options control panel, select the Languages tab and select the box for Install files for complex script and right-to-left languages (if it was not selected before, if it was selected already you do not need to change anything). Press Apply. Most probably it will ask you for the original Windows XP CD, so that it can copy some files from it. You cannot do this installation if you do not have the CD (unless you have a fully pre-installed laptop).
If your computer has Windows 2000, you should select support for Indic (it will also ask for the CD).
Once this support is installed, you should download and select this installer, it will install for you some Khmer Unicode fonts, the keyboard driver and, if you have MS Office 2003, it will find the correct version of the usp10.dll file and install it for you. If a version of the file, placed there by MS Office 2003 is present, the installer will by default give you this location as the source of the usp10.dll file, otherwise will ask you browse for the location of such file. If you do not have MS Office 2003 nor the usp10.dll file, please look in here.
MS Windows does not like users to change files in c:windowssystems32, even if the file is just an upgrade of a Microsoft file; when you do the installation the system will probably complain, giving you a message that says that a key file for the system has been replaced by a file that it does not recognize. CANCEL this message, and say YES to the next one that asks if you want to keep the new file.
Next, you need to install a Khmer keyboard (it will coexist with your current keyboard), Go to Start—>Settings—>Control Panel, open the Regional and Language Options control panel, select the Languages tab; go to Details, Click then on Add and select Catalan language (there is no Khmer, and the sign for Catalan is CA, which we can consider means Cambodian). Right under, in the Keyboard Layout/IME box, select Khmer Unicode Keyboard (NIDA 1.0). Click on OK as many times as needed to get out of the control panel… and you are ready.
A shortcut called Display Khmer Keyboard will be in your desktop. If you click on it, you will see the keyboard layout for Khmer Unicode in PDF format, and will be able to print it.
Now you are ready. Open OpenOffice, or your favorite program supported by Unicode, and then look in the lower right part of your screen for the initials of your normal language (EN if you work in English), if you click there you will be able to change to CA Catalan, which will turn your keyboard into a Khmer keyboard (Shift-Alt also works to switch keyboards).
